Meet the Staff

Our goal for patients is to have a comfortable, happy, and safe experience at our office. Our staff prides itself on being professional and courteous. The surgical staff at the office of Cara Overbeck, DDS are highly experienced Oral and Maxillofacial surgical assistants who are trained in outpatient surgical care, assisting with Intravenous (IV) sedation or outpatient general anesthesia as well as all aspects of infection control in our state-of-the-art office setting. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery, and all assistants are CPR certified.

Our exceptional administrative staff has years of experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is well-versed in insurance and financial policies as they relate to surgical treatment. Renee – Practice Administrator

Renee has been our practice administrator for 18 years. She and her husband have raised two boys and now have a new grandson. Renee is active in her church and frequently spends her weekends helping with community outreach projects.

Renee has over 27 years experience in healthcare and her previous experience in managing a medical practice prepared her well for providing for our patients’ needs. She keeps the practice running smoothly for our patients and our staff. Her duties include the practice’s finances, staffing, marketing, and maintaining the physical buildings and technology. Her primary focus is always on our patient’s needs and providing a positive experience in our office.

Terrie – Scheduling Coordinator

Terrie started her career in dentistry with Dr. Overbeck 18 years ago. She was a surgical assistant for 6 years before joining the administrative team. She has lived in Englewood her entire life. Her family is the center of her life. They enjoy fishing, and are huge Tampa Bay Lightning fans.

Terrie is the smiling voice who answers your phone call and assists you with your appointment. She is also the first team member who greets you when you walk in the door. In addition to scheduling appointments, she communicates with our referring doctors and their staff to gather all x-ravs, medical consultations, treatment plans and laboratory results to be prepared for your visit. Terrie is a true people-person and enjoys getting to know our patients.

Sheryl – Implant Coordinator

Sheryl is married and has one son, two cats, and a beagle named Thor. On weekends she enjoys being outdoors, camping, fishing, attending baseball games and most of all spending time with family. Sheryl was a dental assistant for a cosmetic dental practice for 15 years before joining our practice in 2001. Sheryl IS certified as an expanded function Dental Assistant and completed the surgical certification program, DAANCE. She is responsible for coordinating implant treatment with our referring dental practlc.es. She communicates with our dental laboratory and dental implant companies, for fabrication of our implant surgical guides. Sheryl help patients understand their implant treatment, procedures and postoperative instructions. With implant dentistry being a large portion of our practice, Sheryl is a busy and valued key member of our team.

Allisyn – Financial Coordinator

Allisyn has been in oral surgery for over 15 years and dentistry for over 35 years. She is originally from California and has been married for over 20 years to a wonderful man. In her free time she loves to kayak, swim, play tennis, ride bikes and get together with friends. They have a yellow lab named Gabby, who is frequently photographed riding in their kayak. Allisyn helps patients understand their insurance benefits and helps with submitting and following up on insurance claims. She reviews our financial options and can help obtain financing so our patients can pursue the treatment they desire. Her wide range of services also includes providing clinical correspondence to our referring doctors and being coordinator for our Study Club. Our Study Club is an affiliate of the Seattle Study Club with over 250 clubs worldwide. Our club has been in existence for 17 years and provides monthly continuing education for over 25 of our local member dentists.

Sofia – Patient Coordinator

Sofia is a DANB Certified Dental Assistant. She received her dental assistant and expanded duties training at Charlotte Technical Center. Upon graduation in 2010 she joined Dr. Overbeck’s practice. Sofia grew up in sunny California where she met the love of her life. They have two wonderful boys and a dog named Milo. Sofia spends her free time at her son’s sports practices and games, as well as swimming, biking, canoeing, camping and relaxing at the beach.

Sofia’s responsibilities include assisting for all types of procedures and assisting with monitoring for I.V. anesthesia patients. She prepares the surgical suites and instrumentation and performs sterilization procedures. She coordinates care with other dental and medical offices to ensure excellent communication and care for her patients. She excels at helping patients relax during their consultation and surgeries and especially enjoys working with children.

Erin – Patient Coordinator

Erin is married with one teenage son who keeps her young! She also has 3 four legged children, including an American Staffordshire Terrier and two cats. During her leisure time, Erin enjoys spending quality time with family and close friends. She is also enrolled in college working toward her Associate’s Degree. Erin has worked with Dr. Overbeck since graduating as a certified expanded functions Dental Assistant over 10 years ago. In addition to assisting during clinical procedures, Erin reviews patients’ medical and dental history, takes x-ravs, and CT scans, takes dental impressions and explains patients’ treatment plans. She assists in the monitoring of patients during LV. anesthesia. Erin is also responsible for the Inventory and ordering of surgical supplies and the maintenance of all surgical equipment. Erin’s genuine care and concern for her patients is easily evident.

Mary – Treatment Coordinator

Mary started her career in dentistry after being offered a position by her own dentist! She furthered her education at Florida State University, obtaining a certificate in Dental Assisting with Expanded Duty Function. Mary was born and raised in Rochester, New York. She and her husband of 35 years moved to Punta Gorda in 1973. They are blessed with a son and daughter and are fortunate to have them living nearby. They are proud to be loyal fans of the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles in Estero. Mary’s duties include educating patients about their treatment options and procedures, preparing them for their procedures, reviewing medical and dental histories, assisting during the procedure, and reviewing postoperative instructions. Mary’s easygoing personality and infectious laugh make patients comfortable and at ease from their initial consultation through their surgical procedure.
